My Journey as a Business Owner Living with Daily Challenges – Part 2: Challenges and Triumphs
Hello and welcome 💜
I’m so glad you’re back here with me.
If you read February’s post, you’ll know I’ve started sharing more openly in this series about building Party Your World while living with daily challenges. This month, I want to talk honestly about something that shapes every business journey: the challenges we face, and the quiet triumphs that follow.
The Reality Behind the Scenes
From the outside, starting a business can look exciting and creative — and it absolutely is. There is so much joy in designing, planning, and bringing ideas to life. But behind every social media post, every new concept, and every small milestone, there are moments of doubt, learning, and persistence that people don’t always see.
Living with Cerebral Palsy adds another layer to that reality.
There are days when my energy is limited, and my muscles feel tight and uncooperative. There are days when even simple tasks take longer than expected. Running a business means I have to plan carefully, pace myself thoughtfully, and build flexibility into everything I do. It requires patience — not just with circumstances, but with myself.
Redefining Productivity
One of the biggest lessons this journey is teaching me is that productivity doesn’t always mean doing more. It doesn’t mean filling every hour or ticking off an endless to-do list.
Sometimes productivity looks like focusing on one meaningful task and doing it well. Sometimes it looks like stopping before I reach burnout. And sometimes it simply means showing up consistently, even when progress feels slow.
I’ve had to redefine what a successful day looks like. Instead of measuring it by volume, I measure it by intention. Did I move forward, even slightly? Did I stay aligned with my purpose? Did I protect my well-being? If the answer is yes, then that day matters.
The Triumphs That Matter Most
Triumph doesn’t always arrive with fireworks or loud celebrations. Often, it shows up quietly.
It’s publishing a blog post when I wasn’t sure I’d manage it. It’s completing a design that reflects my vision. It’s receiving a kind message from someone who connects with the mission behind Party Your World. These moments may appear small, but they carry deep meaning because of the effort behind them.
Living with daily challenges has taught me resilience from a young age. I’ve always had to adapt and problem-solve. Applying that same mindset to business has been powerful. Some days are slower. Some days surprise me. All of them are shaping this journey in meaningful ways.
Thank you for being here as I share both the challenges and the triumphs. They are equally important parts of the story. 💜
